Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. §§ 91.137 through 91.145 and § 99.7

  • A — correct § 107.47 states that a person acting as remote pilot in command must comply with the provisions of §§ 91.137 through 91.145 and 99.7 of the chapter, which cover flight restrictions designated by NOTAM.
  • B — incorrect § 107.47 expressly extends the part 91 and part 99 NOTAM-based flight restriction provisions to remote pilots in command.
  • C — incorrect § 107.205 is the list of part 107 sections eligible for a certificate of waiver; it does not address NOTAM flight restrictions.

BACKGROUND

Section 107.47 is titled "Flight restrictions in the proximity of certain areas designated by notice to airmen." It requires that a person acting as a remote pilot in command comply with the provisions of §§ 91.137 through 91.145 and § 99.7 of 14 CFR. Those provisions are the general flight rules that establish temporary flight restrictions and special security instructions announced by Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). The Remote Pilot Study Guide adds that incursions into temporary flight restrictions have led to security investigations and certificate suspensions, and that it is the pilot's responsibility to be aware of TFRs in the proposed area of flight. A remote pilot therefore cannot treat a NOTAM restriction as applying only to manned aircraft.

STUDY TIP

Remember that § 107.47 is a pointer section: it makes the part 91 and part 99 NOTAM restrictions binding on remote pilots.
