Correct answer: A. In English and permanently affixed to the aircraft

  • A — correct § 89.525(a) requires the label to be in English and to be legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the unmanned aircraft.
  • B — incorrect § 89.525(a) requires a label permanently affixed to the unmanned aircraft, not a separate document carried with the registration.
  • C — incorrect The regulation specifies that the label must be in English and permanently affixed; a removable label in another language does not meet § 89.525.

BACKGROUND

Subpart F of 14 CFR part 89 covers remote identification design and production. Section 89.525 addresses labeling. Under § 89.525(a), no person may produce a standard remote identification unmanned aircraft under § 89.515 unless it displays a label indicating that the aircraft meets the requirements of part 89, and that label must be in English and be legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the unmanned aircraft. Section 89.525(b) applies the same rule to a remote identification broadcast module produced under § 89.520: the label must be in English, legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the module. The label is how a remote pilot can see at a glance that a product was produced to the remote identification standard.

STUDY TIP

Learn the four label attributes as a set: English, legible, prominent, permanently affixed. The same four apply to both standard remote identification aircraft and broadcast modules.
